The Writing Chronicles: Something New(ish)

I sent The Holiday Assist off to my proofreader last week, and told myself I’d wait at least a day before diving back into Starlight Springs book 1. See, I wrote most of the first draft earlier this year, but had to put a pin in it so I could finish The Holiday Assist.

Dear reader, I didn’t even make it an hour before I pulled open the manuscript.

Just to read through what I’d written. That’s at least what I told myself. I’ll let you know right now, that that was a huge lie.

The first several chapters have been edited now. I’m re-writing some things and this book desperately needs an actual ending. It’ll get there. But wow, coming back to these characters and this world feels like coming home. I cannot wait to be fully immersed in Starlight Springs, like I have been this past week.

A little more about what I’ve got planned for this series. 5 books. 5 siblings finding love. 1 small town in the mountains of Colorado. A whole lot of heartbreak and challenges—I am putting my characters through it—but they’re all going to find love.

One of the siblings, you’ve already met before. Fiona was a side character in Off Trail Love. It’ll be her family that we follow through this new series. I am OBSESSED with everyone. I have the book order ready and planned (we’ll see if that sticks, but for sure I know who the first two books are about.) With how things are going, this first book may get a spring release next year, hopefully with book two in the fall. But we’ll see what happens with that. I’m not making any promises for release dates just yet.

Here’s what else I can tell you about book one.

I love the characters. I love the ENTIRE cast of characters, there’s more people in this book than I think I’ve ever included, which means a lot of moving parts, but I think this is my new favorite thing to write.

Book 1 also has endometriosis representation. This is something that is deeply personal to me (as I suspect I have it, but haven’t been given an official diagnosis through surgery). This story is not my own, but it’s one that so many women face every single day. I hope to spread awareness about the illness, as well as show readers who deal with the pain every day that they are not alone.
