Request My Books at Your Library

Did you know that you can request your library to buy my books—to buy any indie author’s book—and they often will?

For as long as I’ve wanted to be an author, I’ve wanted to see my books in a library even more. My name nestled in on the shelf, with a library barcode, just waiting to be checked out. Does that sound weird? Shouldn’t I want people to stumble across my book at a bookstore and buy it instead? Sure, but libraries…the library is where I fell in love with reading and with books. I’d check out my favorites again and again and again because I loved reading them.

I also love purchasing books and having them in my home, but there’s something so special about using a public library to get books. And, if you’re short on cash, it’s often the best way to read the books you want to read without having to spend money.

Most traditionally published books—especially the popular ones—are purchased by librarians to fill the shelves, but with indie books, you often have to put in a request. I know, this can seem intimidating. It’s why I put off requesting MY BOOK from the library for over a year. But when I did it, it was simple, and a few weeks later, the book showed up on my holds list and now it’s available to the lovely people in my library system! How cool is that?!

I’d love for my books to be in more libraries, so I put together this guide of all the info you should need when requesting my books from the library. You’ll need to go to your library’s website, find a button or form that says request a purchase and then fill in the information.

Here’s the info about The Luck of Finding You and The Rules of Mistletoe so you can request those at YOUR library:

You’ll likely need your library card number and then you’ll be good to go! You can do this for any of your favorite indie books as well. If you look them up on Amazon or Google, you’ll be able to see their ISBN, which is generally the most important thing you need.

If you request a copy of one of my books, let me know! And then send me a picture when it’s in your library. Libraries are so special, and if having my books in a library means someone gets to pick them up and read them, how amazing is that?
